Jakarta – MG Motor Indonesia has introduced the MGS6 EV, a new electric SUV, at a first-look event in Grand Indonesia, Jakarta. The model expands the company’s electric vehicle lineup with two powertrain options and a range of comfort and safety features.
The company has opened pre-orders with an indicative price starting at Rp550 million. This price applies during the pre-booking period ahead of the vehicle’s official launch.
Visitors can see the MGS6 EV at the Level 3A Atrium of Grand Indonesia from October 14 to 18, 2026. MG is also providing a test-drive opportunity during the event.
The MGS6 EV follows MG’s “Refined. In Every Sense” philosophy. Its design, cabin features, driving systems, and technology form the main elements of the new SUV.
Two Powertrain Options for the MGS6 EV
MG offers the MGS6 EV in two configurations: Magnify Max with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and Magnify Ultra with all-wheel drive (AWD).
The Magnify Max produces 245 PS and 350 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Magnify Ultra delivers up to 361 PS and 540 Nm of torque.
Both versions use a 77 kWh battery. However, their different powertrain configurations result in different claimed driving ranges.
The Magnify Max offers a claimed range of up to 605 km. The Magnify Ultra provides up to 550 km. Both figures use the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) testing standard.
Actual driving range can vary. Driving style, traffic conditions, weather, passenger load, and air-conditioning use can all affect energy consumption.
The two configurations give buyers a choice between rear-wheel drive and the additional traction of all-wheel drive. Buyers can consider their driving needs alongside the differences in power and claimed range.
Exterior Design and Suspension
The MGS6 EV uses MG’s Endless Horizon Design concept. Its exterior features a wide body, defined contours, slim headlights, and distinctive rear lighting.
The SUV also comes with 20-inch wheels. These contribute to its overall appearance and complement the vehicle’s proportions.
MG uses a five-link rear suspension system to support handling and stability. The setup forms part of the vehicle’s chassis configuration, which aims to balance responsive handling with passenger comfort.
These design and suspension features distinguish the MGS6 EV within MG’s electric SUV lineup. However, a full assessment of its ride quality and handling will require a closer evaluation on the road.
Cabin Comfort and Practical Storage
Inside, the MGS6 EV combines suede and leather materials with several comfort features. The front seats offer ventilation, while dual-zone automatic climate control allows occupants to set separate temperature preferences.
A panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade adds another feature to the cabin. The SUV also includes an 11-speaker audio system.
Its 2,835 mm wheelbase provides the foundation for the passenger cabin. MG has also included storage space for daily use and longer journeys.
The front trunk offers 86 liters of capacity. At the rear, the luggage compartment provides 581 liters of space. Folding the rear seats expands the available capacity to 1,690 liters.
These storage options allow owners to carry everyday items, shopping, and larger luggage. The flexible rear cargo area may also help families who need additional space for weekend trips.
Technology and Driver Assistance
The MGS6 EV includes an augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD). This system presents selected driving information in the driver’s field of view.
The vehicle also features one-pedal driving, which allows drivers to manage acceleration and deceleration through the accelerator pedal. Its memory seat function can recall preferred seating positions.
MG has also fitted the SUV with a Motion Comfort System (MCS). The company says this system helps make vehicle movements feel smoother for occupants.
For driver assistance, the MGS6 EV comes with MG Pilot, which includes 16 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) functions. The vehicle also has seven airbags and battery protection technology.
MG states that the MGS6 EV has received five-star safety ratings from both Euro NCAP and Australia NCAP. Buyers should still review the relevant test reports to understand the assessment scope and equipment specifications.
MG MGS6 EV Price and Availability in Indonesia
MG Motor Indonesia has announced an indicative starting price of Rp550 million for the MGS6 EV during the pre-order period. The company has not provided separate indicative prices for the Magnify Max and Magnify Ultra in the information available for this announcement.
The price remains indicative ahead of the official launch. Final pricing, variant availability, and other purchase details may be confirmed later by MG.
The first-look event runs from October 14 to 18, 2026, at Grand Indonesia in Jakarta. Visitors can inspect the vehicle and take part in the available test-drive program.
With a 77 kWh battery, two powertrain configurations, and a claimed range of up to 605 km under NEDC, the MGS6 EV enters Indonesia’s electric SUV market with several specifications for prospective buyers to consider. Its final market position will depend on confirmed pricing, equipment by variant, and how the vehicle performs in everyday driving conditions.
