Buriram – Indonesian riders made a strong impression at the fifth round of the 2026 Idemitsu Honda Thailand Talent Cup (TTC). Resky Yusuf Hermawan claimed his first victory in the championship, while teammate Abimanyu Bintang Fermadi maintained his position at the top of the standings.
The two young racers compete under the development program of PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM). They delivered competitive performances across both races at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, on October 17–18.
Resky won Saturday’s opening race with a decisive last-lap attack. He returned to the podium on Sunday, finishing third in the second race. Abimanyu also collected valuable points, finishing seventh in Race 1 and fourth in Race 2.
Their results strengthened Indonesia’s presence in the regional motorcycle racing competition. They also highlighted the importance of developing young riders through structured racing programs.
Resky Hermawan Delivers a Dramatic First Victory
Resky started the first race from pole position. However, his early advantage disappeared after he encountered another rider’s slipstream approaching Turn 3.
The resulting battle pushed him into the middle of the pack. Abimanyu, who started eighth, took advantage of the situation and moved into the lead.
The two Indonesian riders traded positions with their rivals throughout the race. The tightly grouped field made it difficult for any competitor to establish a comfortable gap.
By lap 13, Resky and Abimanyu had slipped to eighth and ninth. Resky then produced a decisive charge on the final lap.
He overtook several rivals before crossing the finish line in first place. His winning margin was just 0.217 seconds, underlining the intensity of the contest.
Resky also recorded the fastest lap of the race at 1 minute 49.269 seconds. Abimanyu finished seventh and earned nine points.
The victory marked Resky’s first win in the Thailand Talent Cup. Resky said his strategy focused on maintaining a consistent pace before attacking in the closing stages.
He also acknowledged that further improvements would be necessary as the season progressed.
Another Podium for Resky in Race 2
Resky started Sunday’s second race from the front of the grid. He made a strong start and quickly took control of the race.
At one point, he opened a gap of 0.8 seconds over the rider in second place. However, the circuit’s slipstream effect allowed the chasing group to close in by lap six.
Resky continued to fight at the front and held the lead until the final lap. He eventually finished third after losing momentum in the closing stages.
The result gave him another podium finish in Buriram. Combined with Saturday’s victory, it made the fifth round an important milestone in his development as a young racer.
Resky expressed gratitude to Indonesian fans for their support. He also emphasized the value of learning from both races as he prepares for the remaining round.
His performance demonstrated the importance of race management, positioning, and timing in a competitive field where small gaps can determine the final result.
Abimanyu Fermadi Maintains Championship Lead
Abimanyu also produced a strong performance during the weekend. After finishing seventh in Race 1, he started the second race from fifth on the grid.
He lost several positions during the opening lap but continued working his way through the field.
His progress eventually took him back into contention for the lead. Abimanyu reached the front on lap 12 and remained involved in the battle for the top positions.
However, he lost ground at the final corner and crossed the line in fourth place.
The result earned him another 13 points. Together with his nine points from Race 1, Abimanyu collected 22 points across the weekend.
Resky scored 41 points from the two races. Abimanyu’s overall campaign remained particularly strong, as he continued to lead the championship standings.
Following the Buriram round, Abimanyu held first place with 141 points. He led the rider in second by 43 points.
Resky occupied fourth place with 92 points, level on points with the rider ranked third. The close battle for the positions behind the leader sets up an important conclusion to the season.
Astra Honda Continues Developing Young Indonesian Racers
AHM’s participation in the Thailand Talent Cup forms part of its wider effort to develop Indonesian motorcycle racing talent.
The program gives young riders opportunities to compete internationally and gain experience against rivals from other countries. It also helps them develop racecraft, consistency, and the ability to manage pressure.
AHM General Manager of Marketing Planning and Analysis Andy Wijaya praised the riders’ determination in Buriram.
He said the company would continue supporting young Indonesian racers through a structured and continuous development program. The long-term ambition is to help them reach higher levels of international competition, including the MotoGP pathway.
For Resky, his first Thailand Talent Cup victory represents a significant personal milestone. For Abimanyu, maintaining the championship lead puts him in a strong position heading into the final round.
Their contrasting achievements also show the value of consistent development. A breakthrough victory can build confidence, while steady points accumulation can determine a championship campaign.
Final Round Awaits in November
The 2026 Thailand Talent Cup will conclude with its sixth and final round at Chang International Circuit in Buriram on November 21–22.
Abimanyu will arrive as the championship leader, aiming to protect his points advantage. Resky will look to build on his breakthrough victory and challenge for another strong result.
The final round will provide another opportunity for both riders to demonstrate their progress on the international stage.
For Indonesian motorcycle racing, their performances in Buriram offer encouraging signs. The results reflect the potential of young local talent and the value of sustained development programs.
With the championship approaching its conclusion, attention now turns to whether Abimanyu can secure the title and whether Resky can finish the season with another podium or victory.
