GIIAS Makassar 2026 Brings 14 Car Brands to Eastern Indonesia

GAIKINDO press conference announcing GIIAS Makassar 2026, scheduled for October 28 to November 1 at Summarecon Mutiara Makassar Convention Center.

Makassar – GIIAS Makassar 2026 will bring 14 passenger car brands to Eastern Indonesia as the automotive exhibition prepares to open its doors from October 28 to November 1. The event will take place at Summarecon Mutiara Makassar Convention Center in South Sulawesi.

Organized as part of the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) The Series 2026, the exhibition aims to bring the latest automotive products and technologies closer to consumers in the eastern part of the country.

The event also highlights Makassar’s importance as a regional economic center and a key market for Indonesia’s automotive industry.

GIIAS Makassar 2026 Features 14 Passenger Car Brands

A total of 14 passenger car brands will participate in GIIAS Makassar 2026. The lineup includes BAIC, BYD, Chery, Geely, Honda, Jetour, KIA, Mazda, Mitsubishi Motors, Omoda Jaecoo, Suzuki, Toyota, VinFast, and Wuling.

Their participation will give visitors an opportunity to explore different vehicle segments and compare the latest models in one location. The exhibition will also showcase developments in automotive technology and provide a closer look at the products competing for Indonesian buyers.

Several brands are making their first appearance or returning to the Makassar exhibition this year. Their participation adds to the range of vehicles available for visitors to explore.

Beyond passenger cars, the event will feature 20 brands from the supporting automotive industry. This broader participation will give visitors access to products and services across the automotive ecosystem.

Visitors Can Test Drive Cars on Public Roads

GIIAS Makassar 2026 will offer more than a static vehicle display. Visitors can also experience selected vehicles through a dedicated test-drive program.

The test-drive route will cover approximately 1.5 kilometers and use public roads around the exhibition venue. This arrangement will allow participants to experience vehicle performance and comfort in a real-world driving environment.

For prospective buyers, the opportunity to drive a vehicle can help them assess its handling, ride comfort, and overall suitability before making a purchase decision.

The test-drive program also gives participating brands another way to introduce their products directly to consumers. Visitors can experience the differences between models rather than relying solely on specifications or showroom displays.

South Sulawesi Remains an Important Automotive Market

GAIKINDO Secretary General Kukuh Kumara highlighted South Sulawesi’s strategic role in the national automotive industry.

According to figures cited by GAIKINDO, South Sulawesi ranked seventh among Indonesia’s regional contributors to vehicle sales through July 2026. The province recorded 20,061 units, representing approximately 4% of the national market.

The region’s economic activity, expanding infrastructure, and active automotive communities support its market potential. Makassar also serves as an important gateway for business and commerce across Eastern Indonesia.

GIIAS Makassar 2026 is intended to connect this market with the latest vehicle offerings and automotive innovations. The exhibition also provides a platform for brands to engage with consumers outside Indonesia’s largest automotive centers.

For manufacturers, regional exhibitions can create opportunities to strengthen brand awareness and understand local customer preferences. For visitors, the event brings a wide selection of vehicles and automotive products closer to home.

A Regional Platform for Automotive Innovation

GIIAS Makassar 2026 will bring together passenger car manufacturers, supporting automotive brands, and consumers in one exhibition space. Its lineup of 14 car brands and dedicated test-drive route will give visitors several ways to explore current vehicles.

The event also reflects the importance of regional markets in Indonesia’s automotive landscape. With South Sulawesi contributing a reported 20,061 vehicle sales through July 2026, Makassar remains an important location for manufacturers seeking to reach buyers across Eastern Indonesia.

As the exhibition approaches, visitors will have an opportunity to compare models, experience selected vehicles, and learn more about the latest automotive offerings from participating brands.

GIIAS Makassar 2026 is scheduled to run from October 28 to November 1 at Summarecon Mutiara Makassar Convention Center.
