Jakarta – The connection between motorcycles and popular culture is becoming more visible as automotive brands look for new ways to engage younger audiences. At Indonesia Comic Con 2026, Honda BeAT x DanDaDan brought those two worlds together through a dedicated booth that combined a motorcycle display with interactive entertainment and elements from the popular anime and manga series.
The collaboration was presented by PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) together with PT Wahana Makmur Sejati (WMS), the Honda motorcycle main dealer for the Jakarta and Tangerang areas. The activation took place at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, on October 3–4, 2026.
Located at Booth RS-21, the Honda BeAT x DanDaDan display featured an exclusive Honda BeAT with a DanDaDan-themed design. Rather than positioning the motorcycle as a conventional product display, the booth was designed around the experience of Indonesia Comic Con and its audience.
That approach reflects how motorcycles can increasingly become part of lifestyle and pop culture conversations. For visitors who already have an interest in anime, a themed motorcycle provides a different entry point into the automotive world.
Bringing Honda BeAT Into the Otaku Community
The collaboration also gave Honda an opportunity to bring its 110cc-class motorcycle lineup closer to Indonesia’s otaku community. Instead of relying solely on traditional motorcycle exhibitions, the brand appeared in an environment where entertainment, comics, anime, collectibles and fandom are central to the visitor experience.
For Honda BeAT, that positioning is particularly relevant because the model has traditionally been associated with everyday mobility and younger riders.
According to Andra Friandana, Division Head of Marketing Planning & Analyst at PT Wahana Makmur Sejati, the collaboration allowed Honda to approach younger audiences through interests that are already part of their daily lives.
The booth included several activities designed around the DanDaDan theme. One of the attractions was the appearance of Okarun, giving fans an opportunity to interact with a character associated with the series.
Visitors could also receive freebies such as keychains and stickers. A free photobooth provided another way for visitors to document their time at the event with friends and family.
These elements may seem separate from the motorcycle itself, but they help change the way a product is experienced. Instead of simply looking at a motorcycle, visitors could engage with the surrounding theme, take photographs and participate in activities connected to the collaboration.
More Than a Themed Motorcycle
The Honda BeAT x DanDaDan collaboration is also an example of how automotive products can become part of personal expression.
Motorcycles are functional products, but they can also represent individual taste, lifestyle and cultural interests. A rider’s choice of motorcycle, colors, accessories and modifications can communicate something about their personality.
That makes collaborations with entertainment properties particularly relevant to younger audiences. An anime-themed motorcycle can appeal not only because of its underlying mechanical function, but also because it connects the product with a fandom that already has its own visual language and community.
Honda described the BeAT as a motorcycle closely connected with young people’s everyday activities. Through the DanDaDan collaboration, that identity receives another layer based on contemporary pop culture.
Andra said the collaboration gives Honda BeAT a new way to appear not only as a mobility option, but also as part of the lifestyle and self-expression of younger consumers who follow trends and pop culture.
When Automotive and Pop Culture Meet
The appearance of Honda BeAT x DanDaDan at Indonesia Comic Con also demonstrates how the boundaries between automotive culture and entertainment continue to become less rigid.
Automotive brands have long used motorsport, music, fashion and lifestyle events to reach audiences outside traditional vehicle exhibitions. Anime and manga offer another avenue, particularly in markets where Japanese popular culture has a strong following.
For a motorcycle brand, this can create a more informal environment for interacting with potential customers. Visitors who may not normally attend a motorcycle exhibition can encounter a product while attending an event for an entirely different reason.
The result is a form of automotive engagement that starts with shared interests rather than a direct sales conversation.
At ICC 2026, the Honda BeAT x DanDaDan activation combined that approach with physical experiences. The motorcycle became part of the booth’s visual identity, while Okarun, the photobooth, keychains and stickers helped connect the display with the wider DanDaDan theme.
A Different Direction for Motorcycle Marketing
The collaboration also points to a broader shift in how motorcycle brands can communicate with younger consumers.
Traditional product specifications remain important, but they are not necessarily the only way to establish a connection with an audience. Events built around entertainment and fandom can create opportunities for brands to introduce motorcycles through experiences that feel more natural to visitors.
Honda BeAT x DanDaDan illustrates that approach without completely separating the motorcycle from its original purpose. The BeAT remains a mobility product, but its presentation can change depending on the community and environment where it appears.
That distinction is important. The collaboration does not simply turn a motorcycle into an anime collectible. Instead, it places the motorcycle within a cultural setting where its design, identity and lifestyle associations can be experienced differently.
As automotive brands continue to explore collaborations with entertainment properties, the relationship between vehicles and pop culture could become increasingly visible. For Honda BeAT, its appearance alongside DanDaDan at Indonesia Comic Con 2026 shows how a familiar urban motorcycle can enter a new cultural space without losing its identity as a practical mobility product.
The Honda BeAT x DanDaDan collaboration ultimately demonstrates that automotive culture does not exist separately from the interests of its audience. Motorcycles can be part of transportation, lifestyle, personal expression and, increasingly, the wider world of pop culture.
